Hello every one and welcome back to English with Lucy!

The previous entry is the current intro for any video of English with Lucy. English with Lucy is a very good (and beauty) YouTube channel of English. Lucy is a teacher who teach us some interesting trick and secrets (advice or tips) in order to improve our English She has such a voice that I fall in love every time I hear her. I cannot remember how I get to her videos but I think was like some other occasions when I search for some random English video. I have seen her in some photographs with her boyfriend and she looks small, so I think two things: She is small, or her boyfriend is tall. In sum of she is the most beautiful English teacher I have ever seen, I would like to meet her some day when I am living in London UK.

I going to talk about what I am going to do today and what I have done. First, I would like to say something about my evening schedule. Yesterday attempted to go bed at 11.30 p.m and I configured the alarm at 5.40a.m I must be crazy because it would be just six and half hours and obvious I will be very tired at morning so that I could not be productive. However, I have decided to go bed early about 10.45. This is due the fact that I am more productive at morning than at evening o night.

Back to the mean theme. Today after I get up. I had a breakfast was not the best breakfast but I thought “If I want a better breakfast I need to work in order to get it, I cannot just complain because my family cannot give me a better meal” Then thought about my efforts to learn English to be a better person, with better preparation to struggle with life. I have who proposed to think about my dreams when I am wasting my time, have you noticed that we are people whom like waste our invaluable time. Just drag down on facebook, instagram and others. We always complain about our poorness but nobody want to work as hell to get out of the poorness, not just money.

Damn I have slept during a half an hour. I lost some time but I need to start again to work. Yesterday I was reviewing the vocabulary and I will give some examples how to use the words that now I know. The first is “Bear” like oso but this mean is sole the most basic meaning. Bear is soportar, resistir, aguantar o “llevar”.  I’ll give some examples.

-         I cannot bear your children they are so unbearable.

-         All this time I have been bearing his claims.

-         My t-shirt bears your name.

-         I have born your behaviour

Endanger is another word and their meaning is to put something or someone in danger or “poner en peligro”

Shame. Verguenza o lastima and has the structure “+that or +to” for example.

-         Is a shame that the concert have been cancelled

-         Is a shame that you have been so rude with my friends

-         It would be a shame to give him my entire work.

-         Yesterday felt shame about my ugly face.

Aim. Proposito, objetivo, intención.

-         My mean aim is to be billionaire.

-         The aim of this article is to give a new approach about the big data.

Aimlessly. Sin rumbo fijo.

Ok i think i finish with my new Words, I will try to use it in my next speaking practise. The aim of these series of texts is to do a review about the stuffs I have studied but most important is to practise my writing skills because both, the write and speak skill are my weaker skill in English. Regardless the lack of time or money to enrol on a foreign English course I need to keep studying and like I always say: Focus on the finish.

Writing Practise

Today I woke up early but I get up late; it was a beautiful day (morning) the sun was shining and the wind was crossing by. I practice some speaking, however was not good because I cannot talk very fluently and I am not still feel confident about my English. My voice is going down as the words out of my mouth. I talk about the plans for today, and then I had a shower. An amazing one. I put on my treasures and selected my new t-shirt to wear today. This t-shirt is very light it is very comfortable for the hot days here in Nunchia. Ok, I went out to look for a tailor, but when I was on my way to her home, my dad called me and told me his cellphone was stealth. I told him about the situation of the house of his. Days before I phoned to my sister, Alid, to tell about the possibility of sale of my father’s hose but she refused to send me photographs to show it to the potential buyer. My father say that he was going to talk to her and with his former wife about the situation, because he want to sell the house but they do not. He is bound to discuss with them, and in spite of the situation, I know he is still undaunted and struggling for his work.  He thinks his family is going to stealth his work, because all this time he has been thinking that his sons and daughters want to take his worth staffs.

Damn I need to improve my English writing too, I think this both abilities, speaking and writing, are so poor. These thoughts make me feel very uncomfortable, but then I think in my family and the place where I want to stay in some few years and this give the motivation to stay struggling for my aims. I know the road is quite difficult and to be the better for all over people I have to work like no one on the earth. I want to feel proud of myself in a future, and can say ‘Oh man, you’re awesome’. At this time, I think the Steve’s philosophy about connect the dots for the past, not for the future does not work for me because I know how speak a foreign and very important language as the English might open a lot doors for my personal and professional growth.   

Many hours later...

Hi again. Today I am very hopeful!!! I have realised that my reading skills have improved. I feel more confident about my reading skills, i read more fluent with no stops or struggling against the words. 

The main aim of this text is to review the vocabulary I have studied today. I think I have to go on with new words because I have stuck in the same vocabulary for a long time. Therefore this is the last time I review or study this words. 

• Regardless: I love this word because sound very cool. The meaning is "A pesar de, al margen de, independientemente"

-Regardless of the threat I went out to kill president trump with a towel. jijijiji

-She still undaunted regardless of the hard wheather.

• Althogether: En total / del todo / en conjunto / totalemente. 

-(In a shop...) Mr Marquez it would be $34.3 altogether.

-You can erase this information altogether.

-I have deleted my weakness altogether. 

• Tough: Duro, dificil de cortar o digerir, dificil (vecindario, vida)

-I have bee lived in a very tough neighbourhood my fuckin' whole life. 

-This toy was made with a tough plastic

-This meat is so tough

• Havoc: Confusion 
• wreak: Sembrar estragos/causar estrags

-The storm wreaked havoc in the city.

Summary about my daily read

BBC NEWS

First of all I want to tell ya' that today I was in Yopal attending a meeting about entrepreneur but i have to say: I did not enjoy it.; let me explain you.  

Days before I'd read about a call to apply your business idea and the call was opened on 21 November and closes 21 Dec 2017 and I thing 'Oh my god this is a great opportunity to me' and I decided to go and ask for information about the call. Yesterday was the day and a woman said me I have to come to a meeting tomorrow morning at 10 o' clock and y said 'Ok, I'm coming'. When I got into the meeting a woman begun to speak about some themes that I'd already known so that I felt very bored. In the meeting I realised I have to do a considerable amount of work in order to apply for the call and I found that it's not easy but it's not hard either. So, I have to work very hard but I want to start to wokr by myself I know I can do it. 

Ok, back to the mean theme today I have read for a pomodore. I read the BBC news web site. I started reading something about a man called... Damn I've forgotten!. But I can remember the mean theme of the new: This man was a very important man for Donald Trump at the elections on 2016 I'm not sure but I think he was the a CIA former director and was fired with just 23 days on the job. It is crazy, is not it? The article also mentioned the alleged meetings between this man and the Kremlim, which it is say that have been involved (or: is say to have been) in the election and have hacked the e-mail of the Hilary's politic team.

Study Review: What I've learned today

Ok. A long time ago I haven't written something in this blog so I decided to write as much as can in order to improve my writing  skills and to remember the themes what I reviewed every single day.
First of all, I have to say sorry to all people who live in any country  where the English is the official language, I know I do not have the best grammar skills and I do not a very rich vocabulary, however I'm trying to improve this and for this reason I've created  this entry in the blog.

I've been studying some essential topics about grammar that I found in the Grammar in Use Book Essential level from the Cambridge University Press. The topics of today were when can I use the word "The" (I think is called article grammatically) for this I going to list the cases when I can use "The":

• When I talk about plural names: -The Philippines.
• To refer to Republic, states: -The Czech  Republic
• Rivers, Canions, mountains, etc: -The Nile, The grand Canion
• Sole things: -The sun. 
• Some buildings: 

1. the cinema
2. the theatre
3. the station
4. the bank
5. the post office 
6. the dentis
7. the doctor.

• Cardinals: -The north. The south, The eats, etc...
• Names of Cinemas, theatres, hotels.
• TO SPECIFIC THINGS, BUILDINGS, ETC.

These are the cases when I have to avoid "THE":

• General ideas or situations: "Dogs are dangerous" (not The dogs...)
• TV: - I watch a lot TV.
• Spots, school subjects: Football, Basketball (not the football)
• Countries and cities:  IT'S OBVIOUS
• Buildings that in relation to an activity:

1. School
2. Hospital
3. Prision
4. University
5. bed
6. church
7. work 
8. home

• I CANNOT say "The next/last week, day, Monday"
• Meals on a day: -"The dinner, the breakfast"
• Names of streets, square, etc.
• Airport, Stations and many other important buildings: -"J.F Kennedy Airport" -"Kike Station"

Another thing I've study is the word GO:

• GO ON + Holiday, a trip, vacations, a cruiser, strike, a tour. 
• GO (somewhere) FOR + a meal, a luch, a tea, a beer, a walk, a drink etc..
• GO...+ING ---> Go shopping, go swimming, go skiing, go fishing
• GET + NOUN

1. Receive, buy, find:

-Did you get my postcard? (Did you receive my postcard)

-Where did you get it? (Where did you buy it)

-It is difficult to get a job on these days?  (It is difficult to find a job on these days?)

1. 2. GET + ADJECTIVES = BECOME

-I'm getting hungy

-She is getting cold.

¿PRONOUNS?

Why do I put the "¿?"/Because I am not a hundred per cert sure about how to say (or call) this theme. 

The thing is that exits: I, You, He, She, etc... and: Mine, your, her, his, their, our. And the important, (OK cuz' it is the main theme of the grammar review) are: Mine,yours, hers, his, theirs, ours and the difference is that  I can say: My hands, my book, my girlfriend  etc. And in the other hand, I can say: That book is hers (but This is her book) Do you realise that? My, his, her, their + noun BUT noun + hers,his, mine: Friends of mine.

WHOSE

Whose + noun + is/are + this/these? It's mine/they are mine. In Spanish "De quien...?"  It is easy, isn't it? 

PLURAL

-When a noun ends on -s, -sh, -ch, -x ----> -es:  BUS---BUSES, DISH---DISHES

-When a noun ends on -y ---> -ies: BABY--BABIES

-When a noun ends on -ay, -ey, -oy --->-ys: DAY--DAYS

-When a noun ends on -f,-fe ---> -ves: KNIFE--KNIVES 

QUESTION TAGS

I can use questions tags to ask sth to somebody I can use negative questions tags:

-You haven't got a pencil, have you? 

-You couldn't do me a favour, could you?

-You don't know where Camila is, do you?

Carrera hacia la aprobación

Hola gente!

Comienza un nuevo año y esto a muchos de nosotros nos motiva a emprender nuestro camino hacia nuevos objetivos y metas para nuestras vidas. Personalmente no me abstengo de ello  y aunque del 2015 a 2016 solo haya un cambio de número, si es cierto que esto nos ofrece una nueva  perspectiva sobre como manejaremos nuestra vida este nuevo año con respecto del anterior.

He creado este blog, para dejar en registro mi progreso en esta gran meta de llegar hasta lo mas alto en el dominio del idioma inglés, para compartir con ustedes los que me leen -o para algún día revisar todos estas lineas y publicaciones, recordar como empece y ver en el lugar en donde estoy- y sobre todo tratar de enseñarles un poco de lo que he aprendido, compartir mis experiencias, dificultades y opiniones, para que quienes también estén interesados en el tema vayan de la mano conmigo.

Les deseo lo mejor en este nuevo año, espero me visiten y comenten opiniones.

Otro Consejo de Listening: Nivel intermedio

 

Que tal gente! 

Continuando con mi serie de consejos del área  de listening acá les dare unos consejos para un nivel intermedio, no sin antes, haber pasado por el anterior post acerca del nivel básico/principiante; si no has visto el tema puedes acceder dando click aqui.

Para esta parte les recomendare lo que me ayudo a tener un buen nivel de listening, concretamente es algo que sigo al dia de hoy usando para seguir perfeccionando mi escucha, sepan tambien que si realmente quieren llegar lejos en esto la practica es la unica clave para lograrlo.

En fin, entremos en materia:

¿Cómo aprendimos a hablar español? 

Comencemos recordando muchos años atrás como conseguimos hablar nuestra lengua madre, el español, sin complicaciones sabemos que aprendimos simplemente por dos cosas: Escuchar y repetir. Y creo que nos hemos desviado de este camino cuando intentamos aprender inglés. Acaso ya no sabiamos hablar y entender el español antes de ir a una escuela? no hizo falta que en la escuela nos enseñacen como hablar nuestro idioma, pero ojo, si nos dieron materias como humanidades español, que viene siendo como "la aburrida gramatica y estructuracion de nuestro lenguaje". No sé si te has dado cuenta que en cualquier curso de ingles se comienza por lo anteriormente dicho y luego si por la practica y repeticion? Si echamos un vistazo, las clases comienzan - de la mayoria de los cursos de ingles- con cosas como "Presente simple, futuro blablablabalabla" Pues no digo que no sea útil, pero NO ES LO MEJOR PARA COMENZAR. 

Entonces ¿Cómo empezar?

 Aquí ya entra en juego la recomendacion o los tips para hoy,  o como quieran llamarlo. Pues resulta que lo que hice y creo que el 60-70% de lo que he aprendido viene de hacer esto día tras día, sin falta. 

OLVIDATE DEL ESPAÑOL EN TU ENTRETENIMIENTO AUDIVISUAL

Puede resultar lógico pero no todos saben el verdadero significado de esto. Pero como estamos hablando de lsitening lo enfoco en eso mas que todo:

JAMAS, JAMAS, JAMAS vuelvas a ver una pelicula o una serie en español. Se que sera dificil pero sigan estos pasos y les aseguro que se acostumbraran.

• Descarguense las peliculas, que ya se hayan visto en español, en inglés, si eres muy muy muy novato, aunque si leiste mi post anterior ya estaras un poquito mas avanzado, ponle subs al español ¿Que se logra con esto? aprendes algo de vocabulario y el sonido de algunas palabras, pero atencion, no fortaleces tu listening por completo. Si es que no eres tan novato, ponle subs en inglés, miren muchos se van a quejar, se van a aburrir, se van a cansar, será tedioso, lo sé muy bien porque tambien pasé por ahí, pero vamos, NADA SE LOGRA SIN ESFUERZO Y DISCIPLINA. 
• Aplica lo anterior por lo menos unas 3-4 semanas, te aseguro que notaras el cambio, te iras acostumbrando, creeme que ahora no soy capaz de ver alguna pelicula en español, siento que pierdo mi tiempo, digo, puedo entretenerme y a la vez estudiar,practicar mi listening, no les parece genial? dos cosas a la ves, en ves de solo estar pegados a una pantalla solo por diversion. 
• Luego de pasadas estas semanas da el siguiente paso, !quitale los subs!. Asi es, en este punto ya comienzas a crecer mucho mas, a sentirte más seguro de tu ingles, ejercita tu oido y mira las peliculas en ingles, con subs al ingles. Es OBVIO que al principio no vayas a entender mucho, pero poco a poco iras entendiendo - aclaro que esto va ligado mucho al vocabulario de cada uno, tema que se tratará en otros post- además este ejercicio es para el oido. Te aseguro que con esto podras indentificar todas las palabras de una frase, aveces nos pasa, me pasa, escucho alguien hablando en inglés y hay palabras que no las entiendo, ni siquiera las escucho en la frase, pero entiendo a lo que se refiere - y este es otro tema para hablar más adelante-. 
• Algo muy importante es lo que pasa con las series, sé que sería aburrido ver una  y otra vez un capitulo de una serie, para este caso no demos espera y comencemos de una vez con subs en ingles, asi por un mes o dos, luego se los quitas! :D 

Pon en practica esas recomendaciones y ya veras como empiezas a entender más el inglés. Pero amigo, sobre todo, recuerda que como toda cosa que valga la pena, al comienzo sera dificil, tal vez hayan días en los que te sientas frustrado, pero recuerda porque comenzaste, piensa en las ventajas que tendras más adelante, no te rindas, sigue, se paciente, practica mucho, sé constante que con tu esfuerzo lograrás ser muy bueno en ingles, y estaré ahí para ayudaros a todos.

Aprendiendo algo sobre Listening: Experiencia con las canciones [Principiante]

Hola que tal gente de nuevo!

Pues bien hoy decidí escribir  acerca de uno de las más grandes dificultades que he tenido y que todos tenemos a la hora de aprender inglés por nuestra cuenta, el listening. Como bien ya lo he mencionado soy de esos que alguna vez 'googleo' hasta más no poder buscando informarcion al respecto (aprender inglés por tu cuenta por su puesto) paba horas y horas y en todo lo que buscaba siempre había más de lo mismo, pero nada como el tipo de contenido que me gusta, experiencias y consejos de parte de personas que pusieron eso en practica y lograron algo. Leyendo esto ten la certeza de que todo lo que te cuento y digo, lo he probado, he desmetido algunos mitos, he aprendido nuevas tecnicas que te pueden ayudar, porque si a mi me funcionaron, noy hay motivo para que a ti no. 

Ya entrando en materia, ¿A quíen no le han recomendado escuchar música en ingles y aprenderse las letras? ¿Ver series y peliculas en inglés? y otra gama de consejos de este tipo. Pero bien,¿ realemente funciona? La respuesta es un rontundo SI. Pero cuidado, hay que saber aplicarlo para que sea efectivo, no puedes simplemente invertir todo tu tiempo solo haciendo eso. Aca te dejo una pequeña guia práctica de como lo debes hacer, claro que lo puedes adaptar a tus necesidades, pero antes que nada ten en cuenta que es lo que yo al dia de hoy uso para seguir perfeccionando mi inglés y que desde mis primeros días en esto he hecho algunos cambios para optimizar nuestro aprendizaje.

NIVEL PRINCIPIANTE:

Para muchos tal vez sea el nivel más dificil pues venidos casi con nada a enfrentarnos de lleno a entender una lengua 'desconocida' (notese comillas simples). Comencemos: 

Lo que mas recomiendo para ir acostumbrando tu oido al inglés y que puedas aprender las palabras son las canciones en inglés. Como sé que los que se animan a aprender ingles es porque estan muy decididos, entonces les doy unos tips, son muy fáciles, solo que requieren de mucha, mucha, mucha practica, paciencia y disciplina.

• Comienza por tus bandas favoritas, si tienes un telefono (android) descargate de app "Musicxmatch" (o al menos creo que asi se sigue llamando) ese reproductor tiene la peculiaridad de que busca automaticamente la letra de las canciones que estes escuchando, con eso te ahorras el trabajo de estar buscando la letra -a mi eso me parecia muy cansón y casi no practicaba por eso pero con esa app todo cambio-. Si no tienes android, cuando tienes una cancion en el iphone puedes añadirle la letra desde iTunes (busca en Google ;) ).
•  Escucha un par de veces la cancion si ver la letra, luego, escuchala viendo la letra otro par de veces, luego escuchala de nuevo sin la letra y vas a ver que ocurrira magia, ¡Vas a entender algunas palabras!. Practica de ese modo por 2 semanas. 
• Luego de esas dos semanas, comienza a aprenderte la letra de al menos una cancion por día, con eso practicas speaking de paso. 
• Siguelo haciendo por una o dos semanas más, y veras como te vas acostumbrando y estarás listo para el siguiente nivel.

Por ahora eso esta bien para empezar, asi que manos a la obra y pasate por laccion de nivel intermedio.

Como ven los tips son muy básicos y claros, no quiero llenarlos de tema y un monton de cosas, solo les digo lo que me funciona, lo que es efectivo de una manera rápida, sin palabrerias al grano.
